Nevada affected by tariff war

The Nevada construction industry is beginning to experience the effects of the tariff war, according to www.constructiondive.com.

Nevada steel fabricators are now seeing a 25 to 40 percent steel price increase—a big difference from the five percent they are used to.

The housing industry has been hit with prices up to $9,000 per house and $3,000 per multifamily unit because of lumber costs.

The new tariffs could also be the reason behind higher prices for state road projects in Nevada. The Nevada Department of Transportation solicited bids for a highway job estimated to be $49 million to $59 million. Only one bid has been submitted for $61.5 million.

Nevada businesses have adopted a "wait and see" approach in judging the full effects of the tariffs.
