NRCA member donates school supplies to teachers

NRCA member Stonewater Roofing, Tyler, Texas, participated in the #ClearTheLists campaign and donated school supplies to four East Texas teachers.

Teachers throughout the U.S. recently participated in the #ClearTheLists campaign, a social media phenomenon that helps educators stock up on necessary school supplies for the upcoming school year. Teachers create wish lists on Amazon and share them on social media with the #ClearTheLists hashtag with the hope someone will buy an item and ship it directly to the teacher until the entire list of school supplies has been purchased.

Stonewater Roofing created the biggest #ClearTheLists social media thread in East Texas, earning more than 20,000 responses from area educators and supporters. The company randomly selected four teachers and purchased and hand-delivered every item on their wish lists.

The wish lists included standard back-to-school items, such as pencils, crayons, markers, rulers and scissors; more specialized learning tools, such as geometry sets, magnets, modeling clay and geography puzzles; and larger tools, such as filing cabinets, paper organizers, storage carts and bulletin boards.

“The majority of our staff are products of area school districts and now have our own children within those schools,” said Trent Spradlin, chief marketing officer for Stonewater Roofing. “We do what we can to support our teachers in areas they need help the most.”
