The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress, a separate but related educational and research organization of NRCA,
announced the winners of its 14th annual Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards during NRCA's 127th Annual Convention.
Following are the 2014 winners:
Javier Contreras, foreman for Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing, Dallas Jim Dieckman, superintendent for Academy Roofing Inc., Aurora, Colo. Roberto Valdez, superintendent for Supreme Roofing Systems Inc., Dallas Ryan Watts, foreman for Jurin Roofing Services Inc., Quakertown, Pa. Coy Wilson, foreman for CentiMark Corp., Canonsburg, Pa.
Additionally, following are the 2014 MVP Award finalists:
Jose Martinez, foreman for AAA Roofing Co. Inc., Indianapolis Joel Portillo, foreman for Star Roofing Inc., Phoenix
The Alliance also named Valdez as a finalist for outstanding on-the-job performance, on-the-job safety performance and
other noteworthy contributions, and named Watts as a finalist for on-the-job safety performance.
The Best of the Best Award winner also was announced during NRCA's 127th Annual Convention. Ryan Watts, foreman for
Jurin Roofing Services Inc., Quakertown, Pa., won the Best of the Best Award. Watts was named the best of the best
based on his extraordinary contributions to the roofing industry.
The MVP Awards program and the Best of the Best Award special category recognize and honor outstanding roofing workers
from various U.S. regions. The Best of the Best Award is sponsored by Professional Roofing and OMG Roofing
Products Inc., Agawam, Mass. Winners for both awards are chosen based on their significant contributions to one or more
of the following areas: outstanding on-the-job performance; attracting new roofing workers and helping retain existing
ones; contributions to a team effort; community service and volunteerism; and other noteworthy contributions and
activities. Award winners are chosen by a panel of roofing industry representatives.
