During NRCA's 130th Annual Convention held Feb. 27 to March 3 in Las Vegas, the CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award was
This year Antis Roofing and Waterproofing, Irvine, Calif., won the award for its founding of the Antis Foundation, which takes care of the people
of Orange County, Calif., by helping dozens of area charitable organizations through an employee volunteer program,
charitable grants, corporate and nonprofit collaborations, and pro-bono roofing work. The Antis Foundation actively
supports area organizations such as Habitat for Humanity; Orange County Ronald McDonald House; Pediatric Cancer
Research Foundation; and Alzheimer's Orange County. In 2016, the Antis Foundation created a Giving Card Campaign,
giving more than 2,300 Giving Cards to its stakeholders to redeem at a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit of their choice. CNA
awarded the Antis Foundation with $7,500.
The second-place winner was Advanced Roofing Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which provides ongoing support to the Sonrise
Mission, a faith-based rehabilitation program for men and women with life-controlling dependency issues. Advanced
Roofing CEO Rob Kornahrens played a key role in creating The New Life Fund to pay off the mission's $140,000 mortgage
debt. He also helped establish a Board of Influence to help the mission improve and eventually expand its facility and
agency. CNA awarded the Sonrise Mission with $5,000.
The third-place winner was Academy Roofing Inc., Aurora, Colo., which provided $80,000 worth of labor and materials to
repair the roof system on the Rose Andom Center, which improves the lives of domestic violence victims by facilitating
better access to services and staff of community organizations and government agencies in a single, safe location. The
center, which opened in 2016, expects to serve more than 3,000 victims and help empower them to make the best choices
for their families. CNA awarded the Rose Andom Center with $2,500.
