Conrad Kawulok, president of B & M Roofing of Colorado Inc., Boulder
Conrad Kawulok is the 55th recipient of NRCA's J.A. Piper Award. Kawulok is president of B & M Roofing of Colorado Inc., Boulder. The company has about 100 full-time employees and annual sales of $9 million. B & M Roofing specializes in steep- and low-slope roofing, as well as sheet-metal and service work. About 65 percent of the company's work involves reroofing.
Kawulok began his career at B & M Roofing in the early 1970s and became president in 1981. The company became an NRCA member in 1979 and Kawulok has served the association as a three-term director, three-term vice president and 1997-98 president. Kawulok also has served on and chaired several of NRCA's committees, including safety, insurance, government relations and technical.
Kawulok is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and holds a bachelor of science degree in business and marketing.
Kawulok's company is involved in several other trade organizations, including the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association, Western States Roofing Contractors Association and the Colorado Roofing Association, for which Kawulok served as president.
"The privilege of receiving the J.A. Piper Award is humbling because of the character and contributions of the men who have preceded me," Kawulok says. "I am proud and appreciative that I have been able to contribute a portion of the many things I have received from the industry. The roofing industry has met many challenges beyond its control and has responded with dynamic resilience. I am proud to be a part of it."
