NRF MERGES WITH THE ROOFING INDUSTRY ALLIANCE FOR PROGRESS
Rosemont, Ill.The National Roofing Foundation's (NRF's) board of trustees
and The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress' Steering Committee have combined
to form one boardthe alliance board of trustees.
NRF, a separate but related educational and research organization of the National
Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), and The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress,
which was established within NRF to create an endowment fund and provide guidance
and direction for NRF, will do business as The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress.
The decision to merge was based on confusion regarding the roles played by and distinctions
between NRF and the alliance.
"Having both under one name makes a lot of sense," says Jamie McAdam, president
of F.J. Dahill Co., New Haven, Conn., and chairman of the alliance Steering Committee.
"Having one voice lends itself to clearer direction."
NRF will remain a legal corporation but do business as the alliance. Scholarship
funding for undergraduate students who are employees, immediate family of employees
or immediate family of NRCA contractor memberswhich has been sponsored by
NRFwill continue through the alliance.
The alliance has established various objectives and goals for the futurenamely,
to develop a balance between roofing-related projects and studies and philanthropic
programs. A task force has been formed to establish a target ratio to balance philanthropic
and award giving with research, education and publication grants and determine what
giving opportunities exist and which programs are appropriate for the alliance to
fund.
The alliance also will seek to recruit more members and encourage them to take active
roles in programs.
For more information, contact Bennett Judson, the alliance's executive director,
