Introduction to OSHA
OSHA's purpose is to assure safe and healthful working conditions by encouraging
employers and employees to implement safety and health programs and developing and
enforcing job safety and health standards. During this program you will learn about:
- General safety and health provisions
- Record keeping and reporting of injuries and illnesses
- Workplace inspection process
- Citations, penalties and appeals process
- Employer/employee rights and responsibilities
Occupational Safety and Health Standards
You will learn to recognize the many hazards on your job site and how to take preventive
action to reduce your risk. This program focuses on the following construction industry
standards associated with roofing work:
- Fall Protection and Ladders
- Electrical
- Fire Protection
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Cranes, Hoists, Derricks, Elevators and Conveyors
- Scaffolds
- Material Handling; Tools
- Hazard Communication (Hazardous Chemicals)
You'll become aware of the common citations issued for each type of hazard and learn
the precautionary steps to avoid hazards. The class is highly engaging and includes
video segments of job-site scenarios that show typical hazards and their remedies.
Upon completion, participants will receive an OSHA 10-hour safety training completion
card.
