Tax bracket cuts in the House of Representatives: On Thursday, March 8, the
House of Representatives will vote on the first half of President Bush's tax cut
plan, HR 3. The plan would reduce the five income tax rates to four, including lowering
the top rate from 39.6 percent to 33 percent. NRCA is a member of the Tax Relief
Coalition, which was formed to help enact President Bush's tax plan in its entirety.
Once HR 3 is passed, a second legislative proposal in the House will contain targeted
cuts, including the estate tax. It is crucial HR 3 pass the House, and NRCA members
are urged to call their representatives to ask for a vote on HR 3.
If you call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and provide the name
of your representative, you will be connected. Please direct any questions to NRCA's
