NRCA's 131st Annual Convention, in conjunction with Informa's 2018 International Roofing Expo® (IRE), was held Feb. 4 to 8 in New Orleans. NRCA's educational programs were held Feb. 5, 6, 7 and 8, providing participants with CERTA authorization, fall-protection, low-slope roof system, union contracting and for foremen training. In addition, NRCA's Future Executives Institute held classes during the 2018 convention.
On Feb. 5 ROOFPAC held its golf and sporting clays tournaments and The Roofing Alliance for Progress hosted a reception. ROOFPAC held a silent auction Feb. 6 and 7 in NRCA's booth and a Party on the Mighty Mississippi at Patty O's on the River.
On Feb. 6, elections for the 2018-19 officers were held, naming Kent Schwickert, Schwickert's Tecta America of Mankato LLC, Mankato, Minn., as the next Chairman of the Board. Also held Feb. 6 was the National Roofing Legal Resource Center's luncheon program.
NRCA held its Industry Awards Ceremony and Cocktail Reception Feb. 7 presenting the J.A. Piper Award, Charlie Raymond Award, CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Awards, Alliance's Most Valuable Player Awards and Gold Circle Awards. In addition, the Construction Management Student Competition winner was announced at the awards ceremony.
The 2018 IRE began Feb. 6 and ran through Feb. 8, offering a community service event, educational conferences, an exhibit hall, keynote speaker Julius "Dr. J" Erving and a welcome party at Generations Hall.
