Some states are not under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) but enforce
their own rules, which often may be the same as the federal rules. However, in a number of state plan states, worker
protection rules unique to that state are developed and enforced by that state's occupational safety and health agency.
Contractors must be aware of the specific rules applicable to work in any given state and the agency responsible for
enforcement of those rules. The links to the OSHA website pages below may be a valuable resource in accessing those
rules and providing contact information for specific state agencies.
