In an effort to become more environmentally friendly and consistently provide its
members with up-to-date information, NRCA continues to evolve with its print and
online resources. Members received industry news through e-newsletters, NRCA's Web
site, Professional Roofing magazine and media promotions, among other resources.
Regarding its online innovations, NRCA launched NRCA SmartBrief, which is an e-newsletter
that offers members current industry-related news stories, as well as NRCA news,
four days each week. In addition, the SpecRight News e-newsletter became e-Briefings
from the Center, an e-newsletter from NRCA's new Center for Environmental Innovation
in Roofing that keeps members apprised of energy and environmental issues in the
roofing industry. In July, NRCA Insider became an online publication, offering
new features; it will no longer be offered in print. The For Members Only
newsletter will be offered in print and electronically until January 2009, when
it will become strictly electronic.
NRCA's Web site had 30,000 pages of information and averaged 220,000 user sessions
per monthuser sessions averaged about 12 minutes. Forty percent of visitors
to NRCA's Web site were consumers. Professional Roofing's Web site averaged
64,000 users per month.
In addition, Professional Roofing magazine boasted a circulation of about
25,000. The magazine launched its new design in June, and the Professional Roofing
Web site also was redesigned. Professional Roofing launched Professional Roofing
Workers, a magazine for roofing workers that addresses industry issues that
affect them. The new publication featured the winners of the Best of the Best Award,
which is given to the most outstanding worker (two workers, this year) chosen from
the Alliance's Most Valuable Player Award winners.
Additionally, NRCA E-News continues to offer more in-depth info about NRCA and its
members.
NRCA released more than 10 new titles this year. One of the most successful additions
to the bookstore was The NRCA Green Roof Systems Manual2007 Edition,
which sold 700 copies in its first year. The Marketing Department also sold 1,059
hard copies of The NRCA Roofing and Waterproofing Manual, Fifth Edition,
478 copies of The NRCA Guide to Roof Coatings and 6,623 English and Spanish
versions of the NRCA Pocket Guide to Safety.
