NRCA members received industry news during the year through e-newsletters, NRCA's
Web site, Professional Roofing magazine and media promotions, among other resources.
Regarding its online innovations, NRCA launched e-Briefings from the Center (formerly
SpecRight News), an e-newsletter from NRCA's Center for Environmental Innovation
in Roofing that keeps members apprised of energy and environmental issues in the
roofing industry. In its new online format, NRCA Insider offered new features, including
videos such as "A word from Bill" and "NRCA Personalities." The For Members Only
newsletter continued to offer important member news, and the 10@10 newsletter provided
information about current legislative issues.
NRCA launched its redesigned Web site in October. The Web site includes 30,000 pages
of information and averaged 125,000 user sessions per monthuser sessions averaged
about 20 minutes. Forty percent of visitors to NRCA's Web site were consumers. Professional
Roofing's Web site averaged 55,000 users per month. A new feature on the NRCA Web
site allows users to post comments.
Professional Roofing published issues of Professional Roofing Workers in November
2008 and April and launched Professional Roofing ECO, a magazine that addresses
the roofing industry's environmental challenges and opportunities, in June. Professional
Roofing's Web site also gained a feature that allows users to rate articles and
post comments.
Additionally, NRCA E-News and NRCA SmartBrief continue to offer more in-depth information
about NRCA and its members.
NRCA had three major successful additions to the bookstore this year by selling
162 copies of the NRCA Guide to Roof Coatings, Second Edition, 143 copies of The
NRCA Building Codes Manual, Third Edition and 133 copies of The NRCA Safety Manual,
Second Edition. The Marketing Department also continued to sell popular publications,
such as 786 hard copies of The NRCA Roofing and Waterproofing Manual, Fifth Edition
and 4,645 English and Spanish versions of the NRCA Pocket Guide to Safety.
