Entry information

Criteria by which nominees will be evaluated

Nominees will be evaluated based on significant contributions in one or more of the following categories:
  • Community service and volunteerism—A nominee should be actively committed to participating in programs that have positive effects on a segment of his or her community and/or the general public.

  • Attracting new roofing workers and helping retain existing ones—A nominee should demonstrate leadership, initiative and resourcefulness.

  • Contributions to a team effort—A nominee should demonstrate support for co-workers and helping others learn.

  • Other noteworthy contributions and activities—These activities should reflect positively on an individual personally and/or as an employee in the roofing industry.

  • Outstanding on-the-job performance—A nominee must demonstrate a strong work ethic and outstanding workmanship in a roofing application and contribute creative ideas for problem solving; a nominee must also have an outstanding safety record and/or contribute to the improved safety of a work crew.
Eligibility

Any field roofing worker up to and including superintendent employed by an NRCA member or nonmember contractor is eligible to be nominated. The number of nominations per contracting firm must not exceed three per company branch.

No self-nominations are permitted. Rather, each participating contractor or his or her designee is responsible for preparing and submitting the entry form(s) and including supporting information—input from all employees is strongly encouraged.

Entry preparation

Entries should be submitted as follows:
  1. Complete the official entry form with the name and job title of the nominated employee; check the award category(ies) in which the nominee is being entered; and provide company name, address and other contact information requested.

  2. On a separate sheet or sheets of paper, type each award category in which the nominee is being entered and a description of the specific attributes, activities and other factors that make that individual noteworthy or unique. Provide adequate detail so judges have a basis of comparison with other entries. Note: Entries submitted without supporting information will not be considered. Handwritten entries are discouraged. To assist you with the nomination process, sample applications are available at www.nrca.net/rp/about/awards/mvp/samples.aspx.

  3. Feel free to include other information and material that may help strengthen the nominee's credentials as a potential award winner, such as customer and supervisor comments. Remember, the only information the judges will have to base their decision on is the information presented with the entry.

  4. Package entries carefully, and be sure to mail them with adequate postage. The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress will not be responsible for loss or damage to any submission.

  5. Send entry forms and supporting materials to:

Judges

Judges are recognized professionals within the roofing industry and include a representative mix of contractors, manufacturers and other industry suppliers. The only information the judges will have available to base their decisions on is the information submitted with each entry. Therefore, it's critical to provide supporting information for each entry.

Judging will take place as follows:

  1. Entries will be reviewed at NRCA headquarters to confirm eligibility.

  2. Each eligible entry will be individually evaluated by the judges.

  3. The highest-ranking entries in each category will be re-evaluated to determine the winner.

  4. Judges' decisions are final, and evaluations of specific entries will remain confidential.
Questions regarding the MVP Awards Program can be addressed to Marla Ramos at (800) 323-9545, ext. 7539 or mramos@roofingindustryalliance.net.
