2000 winner

53rd Annual Piper Award winner—
Frank E. Lawson Jr., president of The Lawson Roofing Co. Inc., San Francisco

Lawson's career began in 1968 when he started working for his father at The Lawson Roofing Co. Inc. in San Francisco. Although Lawson originally planned to be a police officer, he eventually changed his mind and joined his father. Lawson worked his way through the company; from apprentice to president, Lawson knows the industry.

Lawson has been NRCA president and held leadership positions with the Western States Roofing Contractors Association and Roofing Contractors Association of California. After his NRCA presidency, Lawson continues to serve the association—Lawson was an active member of NRCA's Manual Update Committee, which recently completed the fifth edition of The NRCA Roofing and Waterproofing Manual.
