Managed by NRCA's Community Service and Disaster Relief Committee, The Roofing Industry
Alliance for Progress' Disaster Relief Fund recently donated $25,753 to support
new roof system and restoration work during Rebuilding Together's Fifty for Five
event.
Held during the fifth anniversary of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, more than
1,000 volunteers participated in the Rebuilding Together event to rehabilitate another
50 homes in the New Orleans area. The organization now has achieved 85 percent of
its goal of rebuilding 1,000 homes in the Gulf Coast.
Because of NRCA's donation, eight homes in the Gentilly neighborhood received roof
replacement or restoration work. All residents who were recipients of NRCA's donation
have suffered substantial personal losses in addition to the hurricane damage that
made their homes unlivable for months.
Media coverage of the event included nine newspapers, 40 websites and about 100
television news reports.

NRCA established the Alliance's Disaster Relief Fund to provide new roofs in regions
