Project Recovery
In 2001, NRCA entered into a partnership with the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children (NCMEC). This partnership created "Project Recovery," a program
that helps roofing professionals become involved locally with the search for missing
children through magnetic posters that can be placed on service vehicles.

NRCA staff works with NCMEC to identify children whom NRCA believes roofing professionals
can help find. NRCA then provides 18- by 24-inch magnetic posters to participating
contractors and manufacturers in the vicinity of the missing children. The posters,
which are designed by NRCA, include a photograph of a child at the time he or she
was reported missing, biographical information, and contact information if he or
she is seen. Many posters include age-progressed photographs to help people recognize
a child as he or she may look now. If a child is found, a "FOUND" sticker will be
sent to place over the poster. This lets the community know the program is successful.
By participating in the program, roofing professionals show their dedication to
community service and help abducted and runaway children be recognized and returned
home safely.
If you are interested in participating in Project Recovery, NRCA will notify you
when a child is missing in your area and ask you to put the posters on your company
vehicles. Your participation will help address one of our nation's most troubling
issues finding missing and exploited children. According to NCMEC, one child
in seven is found when someone recognizes the child's photo and notifies authorities.
Contractors and manufacturers are asked to reimburse NRCA for the direct cost of
posters, which are about $30 each. To help NRCA absorb distribution, administration
and promotional costs, NRCA also is seeking program sponsors.
There are three categories of sponsorships. Primary sponsors contribute $1,000 and
are included on the program's letterhead, press releases and additional communication
about the program, as well as receive 10 posters. Supporting sponsors contribute
$500 and receive five posters. Sustaining sponsors contribute $100 and receive two
posters.

In addition, NRCA welcomes any contributions of lesser amounts to help support this
initiative.
NCMEC was created in 1984 as a public-private partnership and serves as the national
clearinghouse for information about missing children and the prevention of child
victimization. NCMEC works in partnership with the Office of Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention of the Office of Justice Programs at the U.S. Department
of Justice. NCMEC's Web site,
www.missingkids.org,
brings images and information about missing children, as well as a wealth of child-protection
information, to a global audience.
