NRCA TO INTRODUCE ONLINE WIND-LOAD CALCULATOR

Rosemont, Ill.—The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), in cooperation with the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association and North/East Roofing Contractors Association, will launch its online wind-load calculator, Roof Wind Designer, in February. The calculator, which will be available for free at www.roofwinddesigner.com, is intended to provide roofing professionals a means of accurately determining roof systems' design wind loads for common building types.

The calculator will allow users to input information about a specific building and roof area, including the building's location and configuration; roof area dimensions; mean roof height and roof slope; and exposure and occupancy information. The calculator then will determine the basic wind speed for the geographic region where the building is located and provide a report that describes the design wind loads for the roof area's field, perimeter and corner zones, and minimum recommended design wind-resistance loads.

For more information about Roof Wind Designer, contact Mark S. Graham, NRCA's associate executive director, at (800) 323-9545, ext. 7511, or e-mail mgraham@nrca.net.
