THE ROOFING INDUSTRY ALLIANCE FOR PROGRESS ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
Rosemont, Ill.The Roofing
Industry Alliance for Progress has announced the winners of its
Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year.
Jennifer Baxter of Carthage, Tenn., daughter of Chris Baxter, Rackley Roofing Co.
Inc., Carthage, has been awarded the Fred Good Scholarship. Addie Kuhn of Fort Wayne,
Ind., daughter of Denise Kuhn, executive assistant for DRI Cos., Irvine, Calif.,
has been awarded the Dan Cohen Scholarship. Laura Stabile of Wolcott, Conn., daughter
of Raymond Stabile, customer service manager for 2001 Inc., Waterbury, Conn., has
been awarded the Firestone Scholarship.
The Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship, which permanently replaced the Alliance's
previous scholarship program in 2008, provides recipients with $5,000 per year based
on eligibility for up to four years of enrollment in accredited university or vocational
programs. NRCA member contractor or supplier companies or immediate family members
of employees of NRCA member contractor or supplier companies are eligible for the
merit-based scholarships, which are granted without regard to race, color, creed,
religion, age, gender, disability or national origin.
In addition, the Alliance renewed five scholarships from its previous scholarship
program for the 2009-10 academic year. The recipients are Elizabeth Ahn of Silver
Spring, Md., who is attending the University of MarylandCollege Park; Brittany
Cook of Naperville, Ill., who is attending the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign;
Jason Hartman of Nashville, Tenn., who is attending the University of TennesseeKnoxville;
Ashley Jones of Lavaca, Ark., who is attending the University of ArkansasFort
Smith; and Sarah Stabile of Wolcott who is attending Central Connecticut State University,
New Britain.
The Alliance brings together leading roofing contractors, manufacturers and suppliers
committed to securing the future strength and excellence of the roofing industry.
The organization's objectives are to conduct research and undertake educational
projects that support high-quality programs for roofing contractors; ensure timely
and forward-thinking industry responses to major economic and technological issues;
and enhance the long-term viability and attractiveness of the industry to roofing
workers.
