NRCA AND UNITED UNION OF ROOFERS, WATERPROOFERS AND ALLIED WORKERS RELEASE POSITION
PAPER
Rosemont, Ill.The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and the
United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers have released Installing
Rooftop Photovoltaic Systems, a position paper addressing the importance of always
having rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems installed by professional roofing contractors
and, when necessary, licensed electricians.
The position paper lists the benefits of having professional roofing contractors
install rooftop PV systems. Some benefits include a roofing contractor's ability
to assess a roof's condition before PV system installation, knowledge of local building
code requirements that pertain to rooftop PV system installation and ability to
organize a roofing job site.
The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) is one of the construction industry's
