NRCA/MRCA CERTA Train-the-trainer Authorization Program

This 10-hour program teaches the latest industry safety practices for torch-applied roof systems. After successfully completing this program, you will be authorized to conduct CERTA certification training for roofing workers. The program includes classroom and hands-on torching activities with the use of mock-ups and torching equipment. In addition, you will learn the teaching skills needed to train others about torch safety and receive essential classroom training materials. To participate, you must be proficient in the use of roofing torches, be able to speak and read English, and have some experience training others.

This course qualifies for 0.95 CEUs.

NRCA's Roofing Industry Fall Protection From A to Z

Designed specifically to help you understand and implement Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s requirements for fall protection, this full-day session will help you:
  • Increase your awareness of fall-protection hazards
  • Become familiar with the specific equipment to use and work practices to employ to avoid these hazards
  • Recognize the components of fall-protection systems
  • Better understand equipment and techniques for self-rescue and relief of suspension trauma through the use of live demonstrations
The fall-protection topics covered in this class include anchors, chutes, debris areas, guardrails, hoist areas, holes, inspection, assessment and investigation, interim fall-protection guidelines, leading edges, lifelines, lower levels, openings, personal fall-arrest systems, rescue, residential fall protection, roof deck integrity, safety-monitor training, safety nets, unprotected sides and edges, vendors, warning lines and controlled access zones.

NRCA's SpecRight Program training session

Get the latest information about environmentally friendly, energy-efficient roof systems in this dynamic and hands-on training session:
  • Learn about sustainable, energy-efficient trends, including cool roofing, photovoltaic technologies and landscaped roof systems
  • Understand current compliance requirements and upcoming changes to ASHRAE 90.1
  • Discuss energy programs such as ENERGY STAR® and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) and federal, state and local incentives for lowering energy costs
  • Use NRCA's Web-based EnergyWise Roof Calculator* to construct virtual roof assemblies to evaluate thermal efficiency and estimate energy costs
Breakout sessions will offer you an in-depth look at landscaped roof systems, photovoltaic roofing technology and EnergyWise Roof Calculator Online.

NRCA Roofing Safety: OSHA 10-hour Program

Monday, Feb. 2
7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Mandalay Bay Convention Center

NRCA members: $495; Nonmembers: $695

This is the only Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour construction program specifically designed to help roofing workers and supervisors identify and avoid hazards encountered on the job. Upon completion, you will receive an OSHA 10-hour safety training completion card. During this course you will learn about:
  • OSHA requirements for general safety and health standards
  • Fall-protection requirements, fire protection and prevention, and personal protective and lifesaving equipment
  • Hazards involving material handling, tools, electricity, cranes, conveyors, scaffolds, ladders and more
This course qualifies for 10 hours of Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board credit (including WPS) Provider Number: 0000936; Course Number: 0008694 0.95 CEU; participants receive OSHA 10-hour safety training completion cards.
