Las Vegas Convention Center
This is a ticketed event. NRCA members: $75; Nonmembers: $95

NRCA's luncheon speaker is Dave Carey. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy,
Carey is a retired Navy captain. He was three times a commanding officer and the
director of the Navy's premiere site for leadership and management training. He
conducted training seminars for prospective commanding officers and senior government
service employees.
As a Navy pilot during the Vietnam War, Carey's aircraft was destroyed over North
Vietnam by a surface-to-air missile. He spent 5 1/2 years as a P.O.W. in the infamous
"Hanoi Hilton." This experience taught him timeless lessons that have application
in all of our lives.
Among Captain Carey's military awards are the Legion of Merit, five Bronze Stars,
two Meritorious Service Medals, the Purple Heart, eight Air Medals and the Navy
Commendation Medal.
He is the author of
The Ways We Choose, Lessons for Life From A POW's Experience.
Following a delicious lunch, there will be presentations of the 2010 Charlie Raymond
Award for membership and the J.A. Piper Award to a roofing professional who has
demonstrated outstanding service to NRCA and the industry. Previous Piper Award
winners include NRCA presidents and committee members all of whom have dedicated
their lives to the industry. The award was established in 1947 and is named after
former NRCA President J.A. Piper in appreciation for his service during the Great
Depression. Piper had the unique challenge of holding the association together during
this tumultuous time. The lunch will also include NRCA's member meeting and elections.
