IRE Community Service Day
Tuesday, Feb. 15
9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The 2011 International Roofing Expo® (IRE) is offering attendees and exhibitors
the opportunity to give back to the Las Vegas community during Community Service
Day on Tuesday, Feb. 15.
Held from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Community Service Day is a home renovation and revitalization
project that will be performed on homes of elderly veterans. Jack and Patricia Brown
have lived in their home for 48 years. Jack is 87 years old and is a disabled veteran.
Patricia is 81 and takes care of Jack. Bruce Dahlin is 60 years old and currently
unemployed.
"This gratifying event is a perfect opportunity to help those less fortunate," says
Lindsay Roberts, IRE director. "It's especially rewarding to give back to veterans
who have devoted their lives to public service and protecting our freedom."
To help with the renovations, professional and amateur volunteers are needed from
a variety of construction disciplines, including interior/exterior painting and
cleanup, flooring and minor carpentry. Working under the direction of a crew chief,
all volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and will be asked to sign a waiver
of liability form.
Community Service Day is sponsored by Sika Sarnafil, Canton, Mass. NRCA and Rebuilding
Together Southern Nevada also have partnered with the IRE to host this important
event.
