GAF Materials acquires manufacturing facility
On April 16, Building Materials Corp. of America d/b/a/ GAF Materials Corp., Wayne, N.J., announced will acquire Atlanta-based Atlas Roofing Corp.'s manufacturing facility in Quakertown, Pa. GAF Materials expects to begin production in the facility soon after the transaction is finalized May 7.
"This acquisition will enable us to keep pace with the growing demand for our products in North American markets, which has increased at double-digit annual rates during the past three years," says William Collins, GAF Materials' president and chief executive officer. "The Quakertown facility provides GAF Materials with immediate capacity of roughly two million squares of shingles per year, plus the potential for additional capacity expansion, as well as saturate felt products to help contractors and distributors build their businesses in the United States and Canada."
