2012 IRE announces new keynote speaker

The International Roofing Expo® (IRE) has announced the keynote speaker for 2012 now is former NASCAR racer Kyle Petty. Petty is replacing Rusty Wallace, who had to cancel because of an overriding professional obligation superseding his contract. Petty will kick off the 2012 IRE Feb. 22 at 9:45 a.m.

The son of seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Richard Petty, Kyle Petty forged his own identity early in his career by winning the first major race he entered—the 1979 ARCA 200 at Daytona Beach—at age 18. Petty serves humanitarian or philanthropic causes; is a NASCAR analyst on TNT; is a host on the Speed Channel; and co-hosts Fast Talk, a weekly radio show on the Performance Racing Network.

The keynote address, "What a Ride: Life, Family, Community and the Race Track," will discuss consistently striving for excellence, living up to your promises, teamwork, helping the community and commitment to family. Petty will share his experiences as a businessman, philanthropist and one of NASCAR's most respected drivers.

"With NASCAR taking place the same week as our show, we wanted another speaker from the NASCAR world," says IRE Director Lindsay Roberts. "As a member of NASCAR's most famous family, Kyle Petty is the perfect replacement."

"Attendees and exhibitors will benefit from Petty's motivational address," says Bill Good, executive vice president of NRCA, the show's official sponsor. "His down-to-earth style makes him one of the most popular personalities in all of sports. I encourage our members to attend."

The keynote address is free to show participants, but registration is required.

To complement Petty's speech, the trade show floor will feature a NASCAR Experience booth with a NASCAR simulator car. Located at booth #763, attendees will sit behind the wheel and watch a flat-screen monitor to experience a roaring raceway. Prizes will be awarded each day to attendees who are the top scorers in the fastest lap contest.
