Kickoff to Rebuild was a success

On Feb. 3, Washington, D.C.-based Rebuilding Together,® NRCA's national charity partner, held its 17th annual Kickoff to Rebuild two days before the National Football League's (NFL's) Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis. NRCA Executive Vice President Bill Good attended the event.

Kickoff to Rebuild offers free home repairs that embrace safe
and healthy housing principles.

During Kickoff to Rebuild, celebrities, NFL players and officials, sponsors and community members volunteered to help complete renovations begun in November 2011 on 10 homes in the Super Bowl Legacy Neighborhood of Near Eastside. About 400 total volunteers rehabilitated the homes in November 2011 and Feb. 3, including installing a new roof on one home. The project also included a new community playground, supplied by Carter's Kids, a foundation developed by HGTV personality Carter Oosterhaus.

GAF Materials Corp., Wayne, N.J., provided the materials for the project, and Roofers Union Local 119 supplied the labor.

"We are especially grateful for the contributions of GAF Materials, as well as Local 119 and its business manager Oather Duncan," says NRCA Executive Vice President Bill Good. "GAF Materials and Local 119 responded to our requests for help with enthusiasm and professionalism. As a result, there is an elderly homeowner in Indianapolis whose home is completely redone."
