NRCA announces winner of SpecRight Excellence in Design Award
NRCA named Open Energy Corp., Solana Beach, Calif., the winner of its fourth annual SpecRight Excellence in Design Award competition during NRCA's 120th Annual Convention March 4-8.
Open Energy earned the award for its roof system design for the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Open Energy installed a 31.5-kilowatt photovoltaic roof system on the center using its building-integrated SolarSave® roof tiles. The roof system is made of 900 SolarSave tiles and nine Open Energy 3,500-watt inverters with combiner boxes. The roof system will produce 4,400 kilowatt hours per month for the building.
The SpecRight Excellence in Design Award program recognizes those who design long-lasting, energy-efficient, environmentally friendly roof systems according to accepted industry practices. Architects, specifiers, roof consultants and roofing contractors who are responsible for the design of a nominated roof system are eligible for the competition.
