NRCA participates in IBHS wind simulation

NRCA participated in full-scale wind testing of two 600-square-foot buildings at the Institute for Building and Home Safety (IBHS) research center in Richburg, S.C., July 17.

During the simulation, wind speeds up to a peak of 136 mph were generated by the test center's 105-fan array.

Construction methods used for the structure labeled "common" represent details insurance industry inspectors found in commercial buildings that experienced failures during high-wind events. Construction methods used for the structure labeled "stronger" represent best industry practices. NRCA provided FM Approvals-approved contractor-fabricated edge metal flashings for the "stronger" construction.
