Safety is a cornerstone of success for any roof system installation. NRCA recognizes torching activities are—and will continue to be—a major part of the roofing industry, and training for those who use roofing torches is essential to maintaining safety on job sites. The CERTA program provides the latest best practices and industry requirements for torching activities; there is no comparable training program available in the roofing industry. During the train-the-trainer workshop, you will complete a 10-hour accreditation program that teaches you how to teach torch safety effectively. Through classroom instruction and hands-on torching activities, you learn the latest industry best safety practices for torch-applied roofing work. You also learn the teaching skills needed to train others about torch safety.
Please note: The CERTA Class is being held off site (9 miles from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio).
The address for the CERTA class is: Beldon Roofing, 5039 West Ave., San Antonio, TX
Transportation will not be provided. Contact Amy Staska (AStaska@nrca.net) if you require transportation.
Program prerequisite: Participants must be proficient in the use of a roofing torch, be able to speak and read English, and have some experience training others.
Each Train-the-trainer Authorization attendee is required to complete a pre-qualifying questionnaire and submit it prior to the start of the class. Please download the CERTA Train-the-trainer pre-qualifying questionnaire and fax to Janice Davis, NRCA's manager of risk management and education, at (847) 299-1183.
