This manual is designed to assist you in using the model building codes and understanding the roofing-related provisions they contain. It includes detailed analyses of building code requirements for specific roof system types for each of the model building codes* addressed in the manual, including:
2006 International Building Code (Available from NRCA)
2006 International Residential Code (Available from NRCA)
NFPA 5000, 2006 Edition (Available from NFPA—www.nfpa.org)
The manual also lists roofing-related standards (e.g., ASTM International) that are referenced in the model building codes, along with contact information for building code-related organizations. Also provided is contact information for the government agencies that have building code adoption authority for all 50 states and 54 major U.S. cities.
*With the establishment of the International Code Council, The BOCA National Building Code, Standard Building Code, and Uniform Building Code were consolidated into the International Building Code.
