The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress

In 1996, The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress was established within the National
Roofing Foundation (NRF)* to create an endowment fund to serve as a highly focused
resource for the roofing industry and its customers.
The Alliance's objectives are to conduct research and educational projects that
support high-quality programs for roofing contractors; ensure timely and forward-thinking
industry responses to major economic and technological issues; and enhance the long-term
viability and attractiveness of the industry to roofing workers.
The Alliance also sponsors scholarships for undergraduate students who are employees,
immediate family members of employees or immediate family members of NRCA-contractor
members.
Composed of significant contributors, the Alliance meets twice yearly to analyze,
select, recommend and provide oversight for projects addressing critical industry
issues.
The Alliance brings together leading contractors, manufacturers and suppliers committed
to securing the future strength and excellence of the roofing industry.
A few of the alliance projects funded to date include: 1) a national survey of roofing
workers, conducted by The Gallup Organization, providing an in-depth examination
of employee satisfaction in the roofing industry; 2) the NRCA Roof Application Training
Program series; 3) a national public education campaign to familiarize students,
workers and those who influence them with the roofing industry; 4) a best-practices
study of roofing contractors' efforts to successfully recruit, train and retain
workers; 5) a videotape program addressing roofing careers developed to recruit
potential workers; and 6) a study of roof longevity and replacement activity conducted
by Ducker Worldwide.
