In 1996, The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress was established within the National Roofing Foundation (NRF) to create an endowment fund and provide guidance and direction to ensure that NRF serves as a highly focused resource for the roofing industry and its customers. Composed of significant contributors and working within the framework and governance of the foundation, the Alliance meets twice yearly to analyze, select, recommend and provide oversight for projects addressing critical industry issues.
The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress is open to all roofing contractors and industry partners. In addition to Alliance members (i.e., contractors who have committed a minimum of $50,000 and industry partners who have committed a minimum of $100,000), the program also includes Alliance Associates—individuals and companies who have made pledges at other levels.
The unique partnership of the foundation and Alliance brings together leading contractors, manufacturers and suppliers committed to securing the future strength and excellence of the roofing industry.
Alliance projects funded to date include: 1) a national survey of roofing workers, conducted by The Gallup Organization, providing an in-depth examination of employee satisfaction in the roofing industry; 2) the NRCA Roof Application Training Program series; 3) a national public education campaign to familiarize students, workers and those who influence them with the roofing industry; 4) a best-practices study of roofing contractors' efforts to successfully recruit, train and retain workers; 5) a videotape program addressing roofing careers developed to recruit potential workers; and 6) a study of roof longevity and replacement activity conducted by Ducker Worldwide.
