Message from Finance and Financial Development Committee Chair Bill Hamlin
The charge of the Alliance Finance and Financial Development Committee is to oversee
the Alliance investment and scholarship funds, monitor the Alliance budget and make
recommendations for both to the Alliance Board of Trustees as is appropriate. The
secondary charge is that of fundraising and soliciting new Alliance members.
In an effort to increase membership in the Alliance and help it achieve its $2 million
goal in funds for the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Fund, the Finance Committee
agreed to hire a fundraising development coordinator, Barbara Talisman with Talisman
and Associates.
To start the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Fund, the Alliance allocated $400,000
from previously collected scholarship contributions and committed an additional
$250,000 during the next five years. The Alliance also agreed to contribute $25,000
per year thereaftermoney that will go directly to providing scholarships. To date,
the new endowed scholarship fund has pledges and commitments of $1,536,000.
