The Department of Labor's new overtime rule goes into effect Dec. 1. During this webinar recording, Philip Siegel, National Roofing Legal Resource Center legal counsel, discusses the new minimum salary requirements for the white collar exemptions from overtime pay, including the executive, administrative and highly compensated employee exemptions. He addresses how the new rule allows for nondiscretionary bonuses and incentive payments—including commissions—to satisfy up to 10 percent of the new standard salary level. The job duties test associated with each white collar exemption also are discussed briefly, and ideas are presented for employers to respond to the new rule while keeping costs neutral.
