It is an employer's responsibility to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) regulations that apply to his or her workplace and employees.
This interactive class focuses on fall-protection systems and includes up-to-date state-specific OSHA requirements. This one-day class also features demonstrations of equipment and techniques for self-rescue and relief of suspension trauma.
After attending this program, students should be able to:
Recognize fall hazards that are present during roofing installation and repair
Use appropriate controls for fall hazards on low-slope and steep-slope roofing projects
Identify strategies and techniques for rescue and self-rescue operations
Harry Dietz is NRCA's director of risk management. Dietz joined NRCA's staff in 2002 and grew up in the roofing
business; his grandfather started Dietz Roofing Co. in Chicago in the early 1920s, and his family operated the business
until the 1970s. Dietz also is an authorized trainer for the 10- and 30-hour OSHA construction safety classes and
teaches NRCA's fall-protection class, CERTA torching safety and foremen training classes.
Tom Shanahan is NRCA's associate executive director of enterprise risk management. Shanahan is a regular speaker at
roofing industry events, covering topics including safety and health issues, effective communication, and management
and training strategies. He also is active in regulatory actions affecting the roofing industry, working with officials
from the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and National Institute of
Occupational Safety and Health.

NRCA understands circumstances may arise that require you to cancel your registration. If you cancel up to 10 business
days before an event, your registration fee will be refunded. If your cancellation is received 10 business days or less
before an event, you may send another person in your place or receive a credit voucher that can be applied toward any
NRCA University program during the next 12 months. Registrants who do not cancel before the seminar or do not attend
are liable for the entire registration fee. All cancellations must be in writing. NRCA reserves the right to cancel any
programs. If such a cancellation is necessary, registrants will be notified and an attempt will be made to reschedule
or make alternative arrangements. Registrants will receive a full tuition refund for the program. NRCA is not
responsible for other costs incurred. The registration fee is due and payable before the start of a seminar.
