In recent years, the Steel Deck institute (SDI) and FM Global and FM Approvals (FM) have revised their guidelines for designing steel roof decks to resist wind uplift. Included in these revisions is acknowledgement that nonuniform, linear concentrated uplift loading patterns, such as those applied by seam-fastened, mechanically attached single-ply membrane roof systems, have a different loading result than uniform uplift loading.
Join us as Mark S. Graham, NRCA's vice president of technical services, reviews the changes in the SDI and FM guidelines applicable to steel roof decks and provides recommendations for addressing steel roof decks in new construction and reroofing situations.
