The 2018 International Roofing Expo® (IRE) begins today at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Registration booths will be open from 6:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the convention center. Activities will begin at 7:45 a.m. with IRE's educational conference followed by IRE keynote speaker Julius "Dr. J" Erving at 9:45 a.m. The exhibit hall will open at 11 a.m., and the welcome party will be held from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. at Generations Hall.
Today's activities also include ROOFPAC's silent auction from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at NRCA's booth, No. 1933; NRCA's National Roofing Council meeting at 1 p.m.; and the National Roofing Legal Resource Center (NRLRC) board meeting at 1:30 p.m. These events will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The NRCA member lounge will be open today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at NRCA's booth, No. 1933, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
NRLRC's luncheon program will take place at 11 a.m. The program will provide insight into the effect and nuances of the tax policies aimed at strengthening small businesses, including understanding the challenges for pass-through entities such as S Corporations and the intricacies related to businesses' tax planning strategies. In addition, two technical experts will provide the latest updates regarding moisture-related problems with low-slope membrane roof systems applied to lightweight structural concrete roof decks. The program will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and includes lunch. The Future Executives Institute (FEI) 8 class will be in session from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside and includes breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. and a luncheon at 11:45 a.m. NRCA will facilitate the Young Contractors Committee's Emerging Technology Roundtable Discussion from 7:45 to 9:15 a.m. and NRCA's Roofing Council meeting will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. These events take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. In addition, NRCA will host its Executive Committee/Former Chairmen of the Board Dinner at Broussard's/Magnolia Room from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress' Construction Management Student Competition job-site visit will start today at 8 a.m. at the Audubon Aquarium.
ROOFPAC held its golf tournament Monday, Feb. 5, in New Orleans.
Yesterday afternoon, participants played in ROOFPAC's golf tournament at TPC Louisiana Golf Course. The winning team was Charlie Seoane, Darren Kennedy, Trevor McCormick and Brian Robertson (CertainTeed). Second place was Ben Michiels, Blake Talley, Bud Reimmuth and Don Scwander (Malarkey Roofing and ABC Supply Co. Inc.). Third place went to Kiel Peterson, Jonathan Haro, Jeff Arnold and Chris Morgan (CertainTeed and HomeShield Roofing and Construction). Closest to the pin was Brian Robertson and longest drive went to Sean McKay. Participants also played in ROOFPAC's sporting clays tournament at High Point Shooting Grounds. The winning team was Mark Sandifer (King of Texas Roofing Company, LP), Jim Patterson (CentiMark Corporation), Josh Kelly (OMG Roofing Products) and Brian Wroblesky (OMG Roofing Products).
ROOFPAC also held its sporting clays tournament Monday, Feb. 5, in New Orleans.
The tournaments were held to raise money for ROOFPAC and support pro-business candidates.
