Thomas Shanahan, MBA, CAE
NRCA vice president of enterprise risk management
Shanahan joined NRCA in 1989. He oversees health, safety and insurance matters that affect the roofing industry. Tom represents NRCA to regulatory agencies like OSHA and DOT, develops health and safety educational materials and classes, and oversees business and health insurance programs for NRCA members. He was appointed by former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao to participate in OSHA’s Advisory Committee on Construction safety and Health.
Richard Trewyn
NRCA director of enterprise risk management
Trewyn joined NRCA in 2015. He started his career at FJA Christiansen Roofing Companies in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1996, and served as national safety director for TECTA prior to joining NRCA. With a degree in occupational safety and health from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and numerous certificates and certifications within the safety field, he brings a wealth of industry knowledge and expertise to NRCA members.
Cheryl Ambrose, CHST, OHST
NRCA director of enterprise risk management
Ambrose is an NRCA director of enterprise risk management, joined NRCA in 2021. Cheryl has 25 years of experience as a construction safety and health professional. She is an authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer for Construction for the agency’s 10- and 30-hour training. Cheryl holds a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University where she graduated magna cum laude. She also has an associate’s degree in business management.
