Career and technical student organization SkillsUSA is central to roofing workforce development. Learn how it was founded, who is involved and—most important—how the industry is supporting SkillsUSA to launch a national student roofing competition. SkillsUSA Director of Career Competition Events Darren Gibson and Program Manager for Career Competitions Tracy Whitehead join us to discuss your role in launching a local student roofing contest and enhancing industry education.

About the presenters:

Darren Gibson is the director of career competition events for SkillsUSA. Darren coordinates more than 100 competitions at the National Leadership and Skills Conference each June for over 6,000 student competitors and thousands of industry partners and volunteers. His team also provides support and leadership to SkillsUSA’s State Association in their state competitions.

Tracy Whitehead is the SkillsUSA program manager for career competitions. Tracy serves on the SkillsUSA Championships team assisting with the National Leadership and Skills Conference each June. She also coordinates the Courtesy Corps and National Education Team programs for Championships.
