The chairmen of the congressional tax committees, Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.) and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), have teamed up to launch TaxReform.gov, a new website dedicated to obtaining input from the American public on tax reform. NRCA has been working with members of Congress and has submitted recommendations to committees, but the most effective voices we have are our nearly 4,000 members. NRCA urges you to support the roofing industry's priorities for tax reform now by using this new website.
TaxReform.gov will allow you to comment about what you would like to see in tax reform. You also can use Twitter to tweet your comments to @simplertaxes.
Congressional members want to hear the good, bad and ugly, so share your personal stories. Here are some of the top priorities NRCA is advocating, and it would help if you could support NRCA's recommendations.
Comprehensive reform that lowers tax rates for individuals and corporations. Some on Capitol Hill are advocating lowering only the corporate rate. The problem is that this results in tax increases on pass-through businesses.
A reduction in the depreciation schedule for commercial roofs (listed as nonresidential real property in the tax code) to 20 years, down from the current 39-year schedule. Bringing the depreciation schedule in line with the life of the asset would accelerate demand for commercial roofs, creating 40,000 new jobs in the roofing industry.
Business owners need a permanent, simpler and easily understandable tax code to allow them to spend more of their time and resources working to grow their business.

Thank you for taking the time to support NRCA's agenda in Congress.
