NRCA director of risk education and training

Richard Trewyn joined NRCA in 2015. Previously, he was the national safety director for Tecta America and started his career at F.J.A. Christiansen Roofing Cos. in Milwaukee in 1996. With a degree in occupational safety and health from the University of Wisconsin—Whitewater and his numerous certificates and certifications within the safety field, he brings a wealth of industry knowledge and expertise to NRCA.

Refugio Alvarez Jr.
King of Texas Roofing Co.’s safety director

Refugio Alvarez Jr. has more than 18 years of construction/manufacturing safety experience in the Dallas area. As King of Texas Roofing’s safety director, he is responsible for developing strategies to improve the company’s safety performance in its drive toward zero injuries. Alvarez manages all safety programs to ensure a safe workplace, including safety orientations, skills training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction and the use of protective equipment. Before joining King of Texas Roofing, Alvarez worked as a bilingual safety instructor, assisting in the safety and job skills training of more than 6,000 construction industry students.

Jeremy Dvorcek, CSP
Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal Inc.’s safety manager

Jeremy Dvorcek began his career in the roofing industry with Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal in June 2000. In 2007, he took on the role of safety manager at Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal while obtaining his master’s degree in safety management from West Virginia University in 2009. Dvorcek achieved his Certified Safety Professional designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in September 2023. He is an OSHA-authorized outreach instructor for 10- and 30-hour courses for construction, American Red Cross First Aid and CPR instructor and United Rentals Core4 instructor.

Neil Nichol, CRIS, RRE
CNA’s director of construction consulting

Neil Nichol serves as a construction consulting director for CNA Risk Control, coordinating the roofing book of business. He works with many associations, safety committees and self-insured captive group Roofers Insurance Limited. Nichol is responsible for monitoring the roofing industry for regulatory changes and major issues that can affect CNA’s book of business. Nichol also works closely with NRCA regarding the CERTA program, including auditing CERTA applicator classes.

Dave Stefko
President of Eberhard, a Tecta American Company LLC

Dave Stefko is the president and COO of Eberhard. Stefko has been with Eberhard for 39 years, holding positions such as estimator, project manager, sales manager, vice president, senior vice president and president.

Stefko is past president of the Roofing Contractors Association of Southern California, four-time past president of the Roofing Contractors Association of California and past board member of the Roofers and Waterproofers Union Joint Labor Relations Board. He currently serves as a director for the Union Roofing Contractors Association, a director for the Roofing Contractors Association of California and the labor, management trust for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
