Construction jobs were added in 26 states from October 2025 to November 2025

Twenty-six states and Washington, D.C., added construction jobs in November 2025, according to Associated General Contractors of America. Thirty-two states and Washington, D.C., added construction jobs during the past year.

“Soaring demand for data centers, power, and selected other segments is adding to construction employment in some states,” said AGC Chief Economist Ken Simonson. “But uncertainty over tariffs and other policy shifts is causing many owners elsewhere to hold back on projects, leading contractors to trim their headcount.”

Minnesota added the most construction jobs from October 2025 to November 2025—3,200—and Idaho had the largest percentage increase of construction jobs for the month—2.3%. From November 2024 to November 2025, Texas added the most construction jobs—24,000—and Iowa had the largest percentage increase—9.9%.

Arizona lost the largest number of construction jobs (-2,900) for the month and Alabama had the largest percentage decline (-2%). During the past 12 months, New York lost the most construction jobs (-18,100) and New Jersey had the largest percentage decline (-7.5%).
