National Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15 to Oct. 15

National Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of U.S. citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America.

According to census.gov, Sept. 15 marks the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively.

As of 2025, the Latino population in the U.S. is more than 70 million—20.5% of the total population.

Latino construction workers are valued contributors to the industry and its success. Labor force statistics from the 2026 Current Population Survey show Latinos make up 35.4% of the construction workforce.

During National Hispanic Heritage Month—and throughout the year—employers are encouraged to find ways to celebrate their Spanish-speaking employees and their cultures.

NRCA offers a membership category available exclusively in Spanish, and its Spanish website for business owners and roofing workers offers exclusive resources and benefits to help Spanish-speaking professionals elevate their business and enhance their skills.
