Two new tip sheets from CPWR—The Center for Construction Research and Training aim to help prevent falls among roofing workers, according to Safety+Health magazine.
“Roofing Safety for Construction Workers” is available in English and Spanish and includes recommendations such as eliminating or minimizing fall hazards during job planning; providing workers with proper tools and equipment to safely complete tasks; and training workers regarding inspection and use of safety equipment in a language they understand.
“Roof Safety: Weather to Work?” offers guidance about working safely in inclement weather, including tips such as monitoring weather conditions before work and throughout the day; inspecting the roof for icy, wet or slippery conditions before work starts; and having a plan to provide workers with cover from lightning. CPWR is developing a Spanish version of this resource.
