NRCA member raises more than $60,000 for Achievement Centers for Children

NRCA member The Garland Company Inc., Cleveland, raised more than $60,000 to support Achievement Centers for Children (ACC) in its efforts to empower children and adults with disabilities and their families to achieve their greatest potential.

The employees at Garland's headquarters dedicated the week of May 21 to Spirit Week—their 9th annual summer fundraising event featuring competitions, raffles, auctions and other activities. Meanwhile, Garland's sales representatives located throughout the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom, joined in the cause, sending in donations during the week.

This Spirit Week tradition of giving at Garland is nearly a decade long and has become an important part of the culture as a corporate mission and team builder. Although the event is called Spirit "Week," the tradition continued into the rest of the summer season with additional fundraisers and a 5K race team for the ACC's annual event, A Most Excellent Race.

As the summer ended, the Garland staff presented a final donation check of $60,522 to the ACC staff.

"We are thrilled to support the work that ACC is doing for families in our community," says Garland Director of Human Resources Antonette Toth. "To see our team here at Garland support the ACC's mission and make a difference to families in need is extremely powerful—and it's something we're very proud of."

In 2017, ACC served more than 2,500 children and adults with disabilities and their families.
