TrueLook released its 2026 State of Construction Site Security Report, which shows a significant rise in job-site theft in the U.S., according to For Construction Pros. Developed in partnership with Noonlight, the report analyzed 2,639 confirmed break-ins at active construction sites in 2025—a 50% increase from 2024.
Following are other key findings from the report:
- More than 40% of break-ins happened on weekends.
- The highest-risk period for theft was between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.
- Unsecured gates were a common factor in theft incidents.
- Insider theft and unauthorized after-hours access were ongoing concerns.
- Monitoring teams reviewed more than 170,000 alarms during the year.
Materials, tools, generators and equipment were frequent targets, according to the report. Additionally, it found using only fencing and locks may not be enough to deter thieves.
The report mentioned securing access points, improving lighting around valuable assets and using monitored security systems as potential ways to reduce risk.
