Roof System Installer Certifications

NRCA ProCertification requires roof system installers to pass a comprehensive computer-based knowledge test addressing the roof system for which they are applying and a hands-on performance exam where they demonstrate their installation skills while following industry safety standards. Both exams were developed in accordance with rigorous national certification standards to ensure the exams accurately reflect the skills and knowledge required by a professional roof system installer.

NRCA currently offers ProCertification for installers in three roof systems.

Computer-based knowledge test

The computer-based knowledge test is a proctored, roof system-specific test. An authorized roof system installer candidate can schedule an in-person or remote test appointment through NRCA’s testing vendor, Prometric.

Hands-on performance exam

The hands-on performance exam requires the roof system installer candidate to demonstrate installation skills and safety requirements as instructed in the roof system-specific performance exam assignment. A candidate schedules the exam directly with a Qualified Assessor to conduct the exam at a contractor's shop or an authorized testing location.
