Abstract
Performance test methods, criteria and a resulting standard have been developed for wood based structural panels used in building construction in North America. The performance standards for sheathing and flooring have been approved by the Council of American Building Officials through the National Research Board. Test methods and criteria have been based on simulation of construction and service conditions as experienced in the timber frame building construction technique. The program has been i nplace for over four years and this experience indicates continued satisfactory field performance. The performance concept will be expanded through the ongoing collection of basic engineering properties of Performance-rated products. Such data will lead to the use of these products in more general categories.
