Abstract
The growing popularity of sustain-ability and “Green” design has levated the purpose of rooftop gardens from entertainment to an area with significant environmental and economic benefits. Green roofs are a trend that has grown as these benefits became more realized. It is an idea that should not and cannot be ignored. However, it is only with a systematic risk management program that design professionals will realize the opportunity for consistent profit-ability and success. In this paper, we will discuss the use of green roofs and its role in the development of sustainable design. We will also discuss several of the key exposures associated with green roofs and how firms should address these exposures to best manage their risk.
