Abstract
I am an optimistic person. Optimistic in that I hope this manual will become the manual used by all persons interested in the field of roofing; the novice, the journeyman, the professional. Thus, I have written it with both the uninitiated and the profe sional in mind. There are sections on the very basics, which you may already understand. Skip these if you want, but I have looked at and studied hundreds upon hundreds of roofing jobs. Roofing jobs done by those who are in the know. Many, not all, of these professionals should review the basics, because some of you are making serious mistakes that are costly to the customer and contractor.
