Abstract
The environment merits of urban green roofs are generally accepted and often used to support government policies and programs that promote their implementation. However, even where such policies exist, the widespread adoption of green roof technology in North American cities remains a challenge. This article describes a green roof feasibility study performed for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), a large public transit provider in Ontario, and discusses the persistent challenges to implementing a green roof technology even where facilitated by policy.
